Marco Arment, the indie developer behind Overcast and Instapaper and a former Tumblr chief technology officer, has released a new app designed for people who keep postponing their tasks. Called Unforgetful, it offers an alternative to Apple’s Reminders for procrastinators.
Arment, known for creating popular apps that prioritize clean design and thoughtful features, unveiled Unforgetful today. The app is available for iOS and Mac, and it integrates directly with the existing Reminders database on Apple devices. Rather than asking users to switch to a separate system, Unforgetful works alongside the data they already have.
The concept stems from the reality that many people find Apple’s built in Reminders too easy to ignore. Unforgetful is built for those who repeatedly hit snooze or let tasks slide, offering a more assertive approach to keeping track of what needs to be done. While Arment has not disclosed specific features beyond its compatibility with Reminders, the app’s positioning suggests a focus on persistence and follow through.
Arment’s track record includes Instapaper, a read later service that became widely popular, and Overcast, a podcast player that has earned a loyal following. His time as Tumblr’s CTO also gave him deep insight into how digital tools scale and how users interact with them. With Unforgetful, he is turning his attention to a problem many people face daily: remembering to actually do the things they have planned.
