PayPal Sale Talks With Stripe and Advent Said to Intensify

PayPal’s chief executive, Enrique Lores, may be steering the company toward a sale as talks with Stripe and private equity firm Advent reportedly intensify.

In July, Stripe and Advent made an offer of $60.50 per share for PayPal, a bid that placed a $53 billion valuation on the company, as reported by The Wall Street Journal at the time.

Those discussions have since gained momentum, according to the Journal, and Lores’ turnaround plan for the fintech business could result in a sale of PayPal itself. Whether the negotiations will culminate in a deal remains to be seen.

For now, PayPal’s future ownership is unresolved, with the talks still in flux.
