Davido Vows Never to Support APC, Urges Tinubu to Rein In Party Members

Afrobeats star Davido has declared he will never support the All Progressives Congress (APC), as tension mounted on Saturday during the collation of results from Osun State’s governorship election.

In a post on X on August 15, the singer, who is the nephew of Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke, wrote: “I CAN NEVER SUPPORT APC IN MY LIFE !!!”

In a follow up post, he directed a message at President Bola Tinubu, saying: “Call your pple to order !! @officialABAT”

Davido had earlier alerted the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to a viral video containing threats against him and Adeleke. The man in the video, identified as Aghahowa Collins, warned that the singer and the governor would “learn the hard way” over their involvement in the election.

Collins urged Osun residents to vote for the APC and accused the Adeleke administration of misappropriating state funds. He also alleged that Davido had been using Osun’s resources for personal gain. Collins declared that Adeleke would not win the election and promised to share N1 million among five people if the governor was not removed from office.

Governor Adeleke also asked Tinubu to prevent what he described as attempts by “desperate and rejected politicians” to disrupt or hijack collation centres in the state. He urged the President to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed to the state to protect the electoral process.

Tension remains high in Osun as officials continue to tally the votes from the governorship election.
