England captain Harry Kane scored twice, but Bayern Munich were still held to a 3-3 draw by Norwegian side Viking in a UEFA Champions League thriller.
In the UEFA Champions League League Stage, match two, at the SR-Bank Arena, with Georgi Nikolov Kabakov as referee, Viking made a fast start. Gianni Stensness put the home side ahead after two minutes, and Peter Christiansen added a second in the 38th minute to send Viking into the break with a 2-0 lead.
Bayern responded through their captain. Kane converted a penalty in the 54th minute and scored again in the 60th to level the match. The goals extended Kane’s run to nine consecutive Champions League games in which he has scored.
Luis DÃaz looked set to have put Bayern on course for a win when he scored in the 71st minute. The match turned again when Michael Olise was sent off for a second booking, and substitute Herman Haugen equalised in the 90th minute, the final minute of the match.
Kane later spoke about Olise’s dismissal. “Michael will have to take responsibility obviously, he’ll have to learn from it,” Kane told broadcaster Amazon Prime. “It’s a shame because obviously we have big games coming up in the Champions League now and he’s going to be gutted to miss those games. But this is football. Sometimes mistakes can happen, it’s life.”
Inter beaten despite 30 shots
There was more drama at the San Siro, where Inter Milan had 30 shots on goal but lost 4-3 to Club Brugge. Inter, the 2010 winners, saw captain Lautaro Martinez score twice in an end to end tie, but Yann Sommer made nine saves against his former club to help the Belgian side claim a famous win. Nicolo Tresoldi sealed it with a hat trick.
Elsewhere, Atlético Madrid beat Manchester United 2-0.
Kane’s latest double ended in a draw rather than a win for Bayern, while Inter’s 30 shots could not prevent a 4-3 defeat at the San Siro. Atlético Madrid also beat Manchester United 2-0.
