Davido Challenges INEC Over Delayed Osun Election Results Upload

Nigerian music star David Adeleke, widely known as Davido, has openly challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission after no results were posted to its public viewing portal hours into the Osun State governorship election.

Writing on his X account, the singer pointed out that by 2:33 p.m. no result had been uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal, commonly called IReV. “INEC, it is now 2:33 p.m., yet no result has been uploaded to the IReV portal. What is the delay? Nigerians deserve transparency and timely updates,” he wrote.

Davido also called on voters to remain at their polling units until their results were uploaded to IReV and to confirm that the figures were correctly entered on the electronic EC8A result form. “Make sure your polling unit results are uploaded on IReV in your presence and make sure the figures are entered on eEC8A. We will follow our votes bumper to bumper!” he said.

He further asked voters to take photographs of the result sheets at their polling units and forward them to a WhatsApp number. “Don’t leave your polling unit until it is being uploaded on the IReV, protect your vote now,” he added.

Earlier in the day, Davido advised election officials to switch to the front camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, known as BVAS, if the device’s other camera was not working. “If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!” he stated.

The remarks came amid reports of technical challenges involving BVAS during the election. INEC uses BVAS for voter accreditation through fingerprint and facial authentication, as well as for other electoral functions.

Davido has in recent days spoken repeatedly on issues surrounding the Osun governorship election, including calling on both local and international bodies to pay close attention to how the exercise is conducted.

His statements highlight ongoing concerns about the transparency and speed of result transmission during the Osun State governorship election.
