Tottenham hand four new signings their debuts at Brentford

Tottenham Hotspur begin the new Premier League season with a trip to Brentford, and manager Roberto De Zerbi has named four of his summer signings in the starting lineup.

Tottenham have invested heavily in the transfer market after narrowly escaping relegation last season and finishing 17th in the Premier League for the second consecutive campaign. The club now hopes to climb back toward the upper half of the table, and De Zerbi has shown his intent by immediately turning to his new recruits.

Marcos Senesi, Jan Paul van Hecke and Andy Robertson all start in the backline, while Sandro Tonali takes his place in midfield. Another new arrival, Matheus Fernandes, is among the substitutes.

Archie Gray captains the side from right back, with Lucas Bergvall also in the starting XI. Both Gray and Bergvall have been linked with a move to Newcastle United, the club Tonali left during the summer window.

Tottenham lineup: Kinsky; Gray, Senesi, Van Hecke, Robertson; Bergvall, Tonali, Gallagher; Moore, Tel; Richarlison. Substitutes: Dubravka, Danso, Maddison, Udogie, Fernandes, Solanke, Bentancur, Davies, Williams-Barnett.

Brentford, who finished ninth last season under Keith Andrews, are aiming to build on that impressive campaign. They hand a debut to club record signing Mamadou Sangare, who starts in midfield.

Brentford lineup: Kelleher; Kayode, Ajer, Collins, Lewis-Potter; Jensen, Sangare; Ouattara, Janelt, Schade; Thiago. Substitutes: Valdimarsson, Hickey, Henry, Pinnock, Yarmoliuk, Wilson, Anthony, Damsgaard.

Both teams have now confirmed their starting XIs for the opening day fixture at the Gtech Community Stadium, with the match set to kick off shortly.

Both managers have named their teams for the season opener in west London, with the action getting underway and early bragging rights on the line.
