Oliver Glasner steps back inside Selhurst Park this afternoon for the first time since leaving Crystal Palace, now in charge of Nottingham Forest, with both clubs confirming their starting lineups for the Premier League meeting in south London.
The reunion carries plenty of weight for the Austrian, 52, who presided over the most decorated spell in Palace’s history. He guided the Eagles to the FA Cup in 2025, the club’s first ever major trophy, won in the world’s oldest club competition.
A year later he added another piece of silverware, this time in one of football’s newest tournaments, as Palace beat Rayo Vallecano in Leipzig to lift the Conference League.
His opening weeks at Forest have been far less straightforward. A single win from the club’s first five league matches has left them sitting 13th, while his former employers have struggled even more, occupying 15th place on four points.
Palace make one change from the side that drew with Leeds last time out. Takehiro Tomiyasu, who was withdrawn at the interval at Elland Road, makes way for Jefferson Lerma in the back line, while Walter Benitez continues in goal with Dean Henderson still sidelined. Ismaila Sarr, back in the fold, is named among the substitutes.
Crystal Palace: Benitez, Lerma, Richards, Canvot, Khalaili, Timber, Wharton, Mitchell, Pino, Kamada, Strand Larsen
Subs: Matthews, Ahanor, Mingueza, Doucouré, Hughes, McNeil, Sarr, Guessand, Nketiah
Forest also make a single alteration to the team that started their previous fixture, with Ola Aina restored to the eleven. Jair Cunha drops to the bench after making his senior debut for Brazil during the international break, and Arnaud Kalimuendo is included in the squad following the injury to Igor Jesus.
Nottingham Forest: Sels, Munoz, Diomande, Murillo, Aina, Williams, Mcatee, Schlager, Ndoye, Gibbs-White, Delap
Subs: Victor, Sangare, Hudson-Odoi, DomÃnguez, Wood, Kalimuendo, Yates, Jair Cunha, Netz
What follows should be an emotional afternoon for Glasner, but the competitive edge is unlikely to be dulled by sentiment, with both clubs eager to improve on a modest start to the campaign.
