John Higgins, a former Saturday Night Live writer and performer known for his work with the comedy group Please Don’t Destroy, has joined ABC’s Scrubs for a major recurring role in the show’s upcoming second season, Deadline has learned.
Higgins will portray Grant, the new Chief Resident. The character is described as a thorn in J.D.’s side, echoing the way J.D. himself once frustrated Dr. Cox, played by John C. McGinley.
Higgins steps into the role as the medical comedy builds toward its next chapter.
