The golfing world is in mourning following the tragic death of Australian teenager Jessica Bang, who passed away after suffering a brain haemorrhage in Thailand.
Jessica Bang, an 18-year-old golfer from Australia, has died after collapsing on August 1 while preparing for a tournament in Thailand. She underwent emergency brain surgery in Bangkok but unfortunately did not recover, succumbing to her condition on Thursday.
Bang had shown immense promise in her young career, winning her first professional event, the Women’s NSW Open, in just her fifth start earlier this year. Her family and the golf community are now coming to terms with the loss of this talented young athlete.
A Rising Star
The WPGA Tour of Australasia has described Bang as an “outstanding young talent” who turned professional at the end of 2025, following a stellar amateur career. She was in Bangkok to compete in the International Qualifying Tournament for the Korean women’s professional tour when the tragedy occurred.
A GoFundMe page was set up to support Bang’s medical expenses, with her family expressing their gratitude for the outpouring of support. They have stated that the funds raised will now be used to help cover the costs incurred during her illness.
