Davido Mocks APC, Says ‘Osun No Be Edo’ as Uncle Leads

Afrobeats singer Davido took the All Progressives Congress (APC) to task on Saturday, taunting the party as early results in the Osun State governorship election showed his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, with an early lead.

Davido, who had actively campaigned for Adeleke during the election, took to social media as votes were being counted across the state. Reacting to results from polling units, he claimed the APC had lost the ward of former Governor Bisi Akande. “Their group chat don scatter! Baba Akande lost his ward. Gov Adeleke is cruising to victory. Shame APC. Osun no be Edo!” he wrote.

The singer also called on residents to stay watchful, alleging that attempts might be made to manipulate the outcome. “I implore Osun people to stay vigilant all night and resist plans of Oyetola. Na we get Osogbo! Imole ti woleeeee,” he added.

In a separate post, Davido voiced confidence that Adeleke would retain the governorship and urged security agencies not to withdraw personnel from polling locations.

Voting had ended across the state, with officials moving on to sorting, counting, and collation of results. By 5:51pm on Saturday, returns from 1,695 of the 3,763 polling units had been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Result Viewing Portal.

Meanwhile, the Imole Campaign Council alleged that there are plans to declare the election inconclusive. In a statement issued by Rep. Bamidele Salam, Chairman of the Media and Publicity Committee of the Imole Campaign Council, the governor’s team asked observers to remain on alert.

With collation still underway across the state, the final outcome of the election remains to be determined.
