Woman Claims Grok Used to Create Explicit Child Images

A Tennessee woman identified as Jane Doe 4 has joined a lawsuit against Elon Musk’s xAI, accusing her stepfather of using the company’s Grok chatbot to turn a childhood photograph into thousands of explicit images.

Jane Doe 4 is the latest plaintiff to join a case originally filed by three Tennessee teenagers against xAI, the artificial intelligence firm led by Musk. The lawsuit centers on the claim that the chatbot Grok played a role in generating child sexual abuse material.

According to a report in The Washington Post, the woman said her stepfather used Grok to manipulate a photo taken when she was 11 years old, producing more than 7,000 explicit images of her. The report said the images were uncovered during a law enforcement raid.

Jane Doe 4 also stated that her stepfather was found dead of suicide two days after the raid took place.

The lawsuit, which now includes her as a plaintiff, alleges that xAI’s chatbot provided a tool that enabled the creation of abusive content. The teenagers’ original complaint similarly accused the company of failing to prevent the misuse of Grok.

The case is among a growing number of legal actions examining how generative AI tools can be exploited for harmful purposes.

Jane Doe 4 is now among those seeking accountability from xAI for the alleged role Grok played in the production of abuse imagery.
