In a bid to enhance maternal healthcare, Abia State has launched a novel application designed to track high-risk pregnancies, thereby ensuring timely interventions and improved outcomes.

The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, made this announcement on Monday, 10 August, during a press briefing that followed the Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti.

This development underscores the state’s commitment to leveraging technology to bolster its healthcare system, particularly in the critical area of pregnancy care. By utilizing this app, healthcare providers will be better equipped to identify and manage high-risk pregnancies, ultimately reducing the risk of complications and improving maternal and fetal health.

Expansion of Healthcare Workforce

In addition to the introduction of the app, the state is also set to recruit more health workers. This move aims to strengthen the healthcare workforce, ensuring that there are sufficient skilled professionals to provide quality care to pregnant women and their families.
